(Next, introduce creation stations to the children.) In our tasty treat center, we will be inventing frozen yogurt desserts. We will choose which yogurt and toppings to add to our creations. There will also be a station set up near the block area. We will have tables of building materials and tables to work.

  • frozen yogurt flavors
  • toppings – strawberries, blueberries, bananas, mandarin oranges, pineapple, shredded coconut, dark chocolate
  • eco-friendly disposable bowls and spoons
  • large serving spoons or ice cream scoops

Building Station Ideas

  • tables set up near the block corner with materials
  • work tables for creating
  • scissors, construction paper, glue, colored cellophane, foil, stencils, tape, duct tape, tape measure, glue, clipboards, legal pads, markers, pencils
  • assorted blocks, plastic community helpers, astronauts, zoo and farm animals, containers,  tubing, fabric store finds, scarfs, blankets, mosaic tiles, stones, assorted sizes of cardboard rolls

Graphing Classroom Yogurt Flavors

Graph classroom yogurt choices on a simple chart (color in the outline of each yogurt flavor). Children use stickers to represent their flavor choices on a horizontal bar graph. , How many of us had vanilla? How many of us had strawberry? How many friends had both vanilla and strawberry?

Our Favorite Moments Around the Circle (Movement)

Lastly, sing Ms. CeCe’s “Creation  Stations” (the tune of “London Bridge”). Creation Stations with our friends, with our friends, with our friends. Creation Stations with our friends. What did your day bring? Children move around the circle, stopping as each child’s name is called. Children share a favorite memory from the day.

(“Creation Stations” would work  introducing any center in the pre-k classroom. The circle time favorite moments activity could be a closing to any theme.)
