An Inspired Play™ Invitation to Clean up
Clean-up can become part of the play—a gentle moment for children to work together, notice one another, and care for the classroom they share.
As play begins to wind down, Ms. CeCe lowers her voice and slows the rhythm of the room.
“Let’s lower our voices and find our calm.”
Then, rather than directing every child, she notices what is already happening:
“Emma is working with Jack. Thank you, friends.”
“Sophie and Henry are working together in blocks. Thank you for working together today.”
Children begin to notice one another, too. One friend carries the blocks. Another finds where they belong. Someone discovers a toy under the table and brings it back to its place.
Little by little, the room changes.
The teacher has offered the beginning.
The children take it from there.
Working together becomes more than cleaning up. It becomes another opportunity to belong, contribute, and discover the joy of being part of a classroom community.
